The eyes are the windows to the soul, so protect your soul from what your eyes see. If you allow your eyes to wander, be sure that you’re allowing your eeman to falter. When your eman falters, it immediately makes you view your sins as minuscule. When you view your sins as minuscule, the fear of Allaah diminishes. When the fear of Allaah diminishes, the hearts harden. So lower your gaze and protect your soul from what your eyes see.

The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said, “Allaah has forbidden for you,
- to be undutiful to your mothers,
- to bury your daughters alive,
- to not to pay the rights of the others (e.g. charity, etc.) and
- to beg of men (begging).
And Allaah has hated for you
- vain, useless talk, or that you talk too much about others,
- to ask too many questions, (in disputed religious matters),
- and to waste the wealth (by extravagance).”
